Fiber proof testers are created to use a set load to Sheathing line to be able to test the effectiveness of the spliced fiber. Our fiber proof testers can be found in both linear and rotary designs, for both proof and tension testing. Fiber proof testers are available for single mode, multimode, and polarization-maintaining fibers. Fiber Recoaters with Proof Testers offer easy, integrated solutions to recoat and test fusion-spliced fibers. The fiber recoating process restores the buffer coating to your stripped fiber, offering more flexibility when compared to a heat-shrink protection sleeve, enabling so that it is handled and coiled with no damage to the fusion-spliced section. The integrated linear or rotary proof tester allows users to right away test a recoated fiber with a pre-determined load and determine the long term reliability of the fiber. Because of the capability to restore a fusion-spliced fiber to near original condition, these systems are ideal for applications such as undersea optical fiber cables, submarine communication cabling, fiber lasers, or Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) lasers.
The process starts with the fusion-spliced portion of fiber being placed in the center of the mold assembly (see image to the right). Once occur position, inserts within the fiber blocks secure the spliced fiber in place. Recoat material is pumped in to the cavity then UV-cured. The recoated fiber are able to be tested by pulling onto it up to a pre-determined load.
Recoater and Mold Assembly Options – Recoaters can be found with either a computerized or manual mold assembly. The automated mold assembly features pneumatic charge of the mold plates and it is optimized for high-volume manufacturing applications. Manual mold assemblies, on the other hand, use hinged mold plates which provide more flexibility and are ideal for low-volume manufacturing or R&D applications. A computerized or manual volumetric dispensing pump and injection system is utilized to inject the recoat material in to the mold cavity.
The PTR208 automatic recoater comes standard with a mold assembly for optical fiber proof-testing machine; For our manual recoaters (Item #s PTR206, PTR206B, PTR307, and PTR307B), the mold assembly is sold separately so that customers can choose the right mold coating diameter for their application. Custom mold coating sizes are available as much as Ø900 µm. Pre-setting up the mold assembly in the factory is also available. We provide you with both high-index (Item # AB950200) and low-index (Item # PC373) recoat materials to use during these recoaters. Recoaters with manual injection pumps (Item #s PTR206B and PTR307B) are suitable for both kinds of recoat material; other recoaters are compatible with the high-index material only. Our manual recoaters having an automatic injection system (Item #s PTR206 and PTR307) may be customized to work with the low- and high-index recoat material; please contact Tech Support for additional information.
Proof Tester Options – The PTR206, PTR206B, and PTR208 Fiber Recoaters come with an integrated linear proof tester, that can take the fiber as much as a predetermined load (20 N) and after that releases it. The linear proof tester uses uojthk same fiber holding blocks as the recoater and therefore the fiber fails to need to be moved just before testing. The PTR307 and PTR307B Fiber Recoaters come with a built-in rotary proof tester, which can perform both proof and tension tests (?89 N). One set of proof test grips is included; replacement proof test grips are available below in packs of 10. Each testing process is fully programmable through the included handset or tablet controller, allowing an individual to pick parameters like the load, the pace where the stress is used, and also the hold time.
Inserts for Fiber Holding Blocks – Along with the above, we provide you with a number of inserts to use inside the fiber holding blocks in the recoaters so that you can support a variety of Secondary coating line. For recoaters with a rotary proof tester, the inserts are appropriate for fiber coating diameters in a vary from 125 µm to 900 µm. For recoaters having a linear proof tester, the inserts cover a range for fiber coatings from Ø250 µm to Ø900 µm.
